The bike leg should not erase the swim and run.
A triathlon map has to balance three routes with very different scales. The swim may be a compact line in the bay, the bike course can cover an entire region, and the run often loops close to the finish. A good composition keeps all three readable without letting the longest leg dominate everything.
The surrounding terrain gives the event a sense of place. Coast, lake, climbs, city and transition area can be understood together, while personal text records the distance, athlete, year and finishing time.

The widest course section, shaped by the surrounding road network and terrain.

Sprint to long-distance triathlon
The same design logic can be used for sprint, Olympic, middle-distance and Ironman-distance events. The scale changes, but the core problem remains the same: show three disciplines in one readable piece while preserving the terrain and place.
Long-distance bike routes may need a wider map crop. Compact city events can show more local detail around transition and the finish. Multi-loop courses need careful line treatment so repeated sections remain clear.
Which route files to send
Separate GPX files for the swim, bike and run are ideal. If the event provides an official route page rather than downloads, send the link and exact year. A personal activity recording can be used when the completed route differs from the published course.

A personal triathlon finisher gift
A medal shows that the athlete finished. A route map shows what the finish contained. It can be a gift from a partner, family, coach or training group, especially when the event was a first at that distance or the end of a long recovery and preparation period.
For triathlon clubs and events
A shared course design can be adapted into a club edition, podium award, VIP gift or a small set of personalised finisher pieces. One sample can be reviewed before a batch is produced.
